MANAGER OF OPERATIONS

We are seeking an established professional with a demonstrated history of responsibility, leadership, reliability, initiative, and sound judgment.

Relevant backgrounds may include:

• Wildlife sanctuary or zoological operations

• Ranch or equestrian facility management

• Veterinary operations

• Animal-care management

• Parks or natural-resource operations

• Agricultural operations

• Facilities/property management

• Military or emergency-services leadership

• Hospitality or nonprofit operations

• Other comparable management experience

Wolf or wolfdog experience is not required. Appropriate training will be provided.

A college degree in wildlife management, zoology, biology, business, nonprofit management, or a related field is welcomed but not required.

Candidates must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including extensive walking on uneven terrain, outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.

Compensation: depending on experience.

This is a full-time, hourly leadership position offering paid vacation and sick leave, opportunities for professional growth, and increasing leadership responsibility.

A private, newly constructed two-bedroom, two-bath, approximately 1,100-square-foot residence is available on sanctuary property for the successful long-term candidate.

Permanent on-site housing is generally offered following successful completion of an introductory employment period and is subject to a separate housing agreement.

Candidates relocating from outside Washington are encouraged to apply. Transition arrangements may be discussed with finalists.

This is an unusual position carrying significant responsibility and trust. It is intended for an experienced professional seeking a long-term leadership opportunity.

This position is probably not the right fit if you are primarily seeking housing, looking for temporary employment, interested mainly in working closely with wolves, uncomfortable with physical outdoor work, require continual direction, or are not prepared for the responsibility and accountability associated with helping operate an animal sanctuary.

Because this position involves significant trust and access to private property, animals, facilities, equipment, staff, guests, and sensitive organizational information, finalists will undergo professional reference checks and appropriate background screening.
