Come ROAM in the Spirit of the Wolf

ROAM is a nonprofit 501c3 educational facility that provides a permanent home to 10 wolfdogs living onsite in very large and natural enclosures.  We invite you to schedule a private educational tour and meet our friendly, loving ambassadors who have so much to teach us about wolfdogs, wolves and ourselves.

Our knowledgeable and experienced guides will take you on an unforgettable journey, giving you a chance to see some of the world's most incredible animals up close. Our virtual tour video above is a great way to get a sneak peek at what we have to offer, before experiencing it firsthand. Come and join us for a one-of-a-kind adventure!

WHAT IS A WOLFDOG?

Wolfdogs are the result of private breeders, they are not born in the wild.  They are typically mixed with domestic dog breeds such as German Shepherds, Malamutes and Huskies for their "wolfie dog" appearance and because owning a pure wolf is illegal, they are often the result of one wolfdog bred to another wolfdog.  They can contain anywhere from a very low to very high percentage of wolf and that content can determine factors such as appearance and behavior patterns. Laws on owning a wolfdog as a pet vary from state to state and county to county.

WOLF CONSERVATION

With our organization’s mission always in mind, advocating for wolves is something that we take very seriously. Here in Washington, the gray wolf (Canis lupus) is a native species that was nearly eradicated in the early 1900's.  Wolves play a key role in our ecosystem by keeping deer and elk populations in check, which in turn benefits many other plant and animal species. Wolves in the Northern Rocky Mountains Region still remain unprotected. Nearly 1,000 wolves have been hunted down in the last year alone.  Help is needed to restore Endangered Species Act protections for Northern Rockies wolves.

Who We Are

Here at ROAM, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 2021, we have been determined to make a positive impact.  In February, 2022 we purchased 40 acres outside of Shelton, WA and began creating a lifelong dream; a sanctuary for wolfdogs, dedicated to providing a wonderful home, living out their best lives.

The importance of our efforts was not only to provide sanctuary to wolfdogs but to bring needed education about wolves and wolfdogs to the public and offer a Teen Outreach program to teens in foster care.  We are very proud of the progress we continue to make and we are now open for private, educational, experiential tours!

You can learn more about what we do and how we strive every day to promote education and positive change in the world for wolves and wolfdogs alike.

Please follow us for daily updates on our social media pages; Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Get Involved

There are so many ways for you to help and we truly appreciate each and every effort. By lending your support, you’ll become a valuable part of our Mission and help to strengthen our operations.

VOLUNTEER

Sure sitting on the couch is great, but have you ever worked with amazing animals such as Wolfdogs?  This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause. We believe the best way for our mission to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is a rewarding and efficient way of contributing to the ongoing work we do at ROAM.

TEEN OUTREACH

We are partnered with Service Alternatives who support youth in the foster care system by engaging in their community. We are so excited to provide the opportunity for teenagers (16-19) an avenue to gain awareness in the company of our friendly Ambassador Wolfdogs. Our mission is to provide a space where youth will find acceptance, learn life skills, and gain confidence. We welcome youth from all walks of life and put priority on supporting those who experience marginalization.

DONATE

Want to join our efforts but not sure where to start? Make a donation and offer support in the way that helps with the Wolfdogs' feed and medical expenses, enclosure upkeep, taking in new wolfdogs, and continuing to provide those very important enrichment toys and treats.  It’s an easy and wonderful way to contribute to our cause, and every little bit counts towards paving the path for a better tomorrow. Get in touch with us today for more details about how you can help or click HERE to donate.
